Regional CCS screening Phase 1 and 2

Egypt Upstream Gateway completed a key CCS screening study to evaluate the CO2 storage potential in the shallow waters offshore the Nile Delta-Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.

The main goal is to reduce the CO2 footprint of Egypt, and to enable discussions with different stakeholder to support creating a legal, environmental, social and infrastructural framework with the international guidelines.The study was divided into two phases: Phase 1 focused on the Eastern offshore Nile Delta, while Phase 2 evaluated the potential in the Western Nile Delta.

This framework will serve as a blueprint for effectively managing similar projects in the future. By employing a meticulous regional screening process, this research project aims to critically assess and evaluate the feasibility of implementing carbon capture and storage techniques within the offshore Nile Delta region of Egypt.

Western Desert Integrated Technical Evaluation of The Carbonates Potential

Although the Western Desert Basin has seen considerable exploration in recent decades, companies have only lately begun to investigate the hydrocarbon potential in low permeability formations that could be unlocked using horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing.

The workflow started with an integrated formation evaluation that aims to identify possible promising zones based on wireline and mud logs. It then moved on to integrating borehole images with available core data and thin sections to analyze and interpret the reservoir lithofacies.

Finally, structural mapping was completed using a combination of seismic features, including edge detection, coherence, and sweetness to understand the carbonate discoveries and characterize sweet spots.

Western Desert Accelerated Regional Evaluation

EUG regional team has completed a fully integrated regional evaluation from basin scale to prospect level to effectively support bid rounds and promote acreage in local and global markets. This type of evaluation is a key enabler for the market to understand the prospectivity and value of bid round blocks, global market dynamics, and potential client interest.

Understanding the well data in the study region is essential for delineating petroleum system elements within the area. In order to expedite the well evaluation process for explorers, the team has harmonized the well logs of of more than 40 wells in the study area.

Additionally, they have provided a structured database of well folders, consistent petrophysical log layouts, LAS files, and wells correlation sheets, which contain comprehensive details regarding data and report availability.

East Mediterranean 3D Regional Post-stack Merge Phase 1

Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) Team has successfully achieved an extraordinary milestone within the scope of this study.

The team has undertaken a monumental endeavor by seamlessly integrating and consolidating an extensive array of data, specifically 35,000 square kilometers of Regional Post Stack data, leveraging the state-of-the-art 3D legacy data technology. This unprecedented feat has revolutionized the exploration process, offering geologists, as well as explorers, unparalleled access and convenience by consolidating over 25 distinctive surveys into a single, merged and matched seismic cube.

Eastern Mediterranean regional geology, facilitating nuanced and informed deep under-explored play mapping. Additionally, the merged volume enables the seamless correlation of the regional stratigraphy and meticulous structural mapping of diverse plays, effectively outlining the highly prospective areas for future exploration endeavors.

East-Med Regional Post-stack Merge Phase 2

The EUG has extended the seamless seismic coverage to the west of phase 1 covering an area of ~ 35,000 km2 and providing continuous seismic datasets over open acreage and potential bidding blocks. A pre-stack depth processing product will be available this year.

Onshore Nile Delta 3D Pre-stack Merge PSDM

Egypt Upstream Gateway completed a 3D pre-stack depth imaging project which includes the merge and processing of 18 input legacy surveys from field tapes to create a homogenized depth volume across 10,000 km2.

The enhanced volume shows a good signal to noise ratio , maintains amplitude fidelity for AVO studies and improves the imaging of the stratigraphic and structural traps in the pre and post Messinian sequences.

The evergreened volume enables better delineation of regional structural and stratigraphic details along with potential leads across the exploration blocks and open areas onshore Egypt.

East Mediterranean 3D Accelerated Pre-stack Merge Phase 1

Egypt Upstream Gateway Evergreening Team has successfully accomplished an accelerated 3D pre-stack depth re-processing venture. This comprehensive effort entailed merging and processing 12 input legacy surveys, previously recorded on field tapes, which ultimately culminated in the development of a homogenized depth volume covering an extensive 12,000 square Kilometers.

Notably, the enhanced volume exhibits a marked improvement in terms of signal to noise ratio, while also maintaining amplitude fidelity essential for carrying out AVO studies. Moreover, the imaging of stratigraphic and structural traps in both the pre and post Messinian sequences has experienced a significant enhancement.

This evergreened volume, therefore, offers an elevated capability for superior delineation of potential leads, extending across exploration blocks and open areas located offshore Egypt.

Egypt Upstream Gateway Evergreening Team has completed 25,000 square kilometers of Regional Post Stack merge in the Western Desert.

The merging of various surveys into a single, matched seismic cube grants explorers' access to more than 35 surveys all at once. With an enhanced volume, researchers gain a more comprehensive understanding of the Western Desert regional geology, filling in gaps in knowledge and allowing for a more accurate and detailed play mapping.

This seamlessly merged volume also facilitates regional stratigraphic correlation and the mapping of different prolific basins, contributing to the identification of leads.

Offshore Nile Delta Regional Post-stack Merge

The Offshore Nile Delta Regional Post-stack Merge involves the integration of several existing surveys within the Nile Delta region. This process aims to seamlessly connect the onshore and offshore areas of the basin.

By merging multiple legacy surveys, a comprehensive dataset is generated, facilitating a more holistic understanding of the geological structure and potential reservoirs within the region. This integrated approach allows for a more accurate interpretation of the subsurface, assisting in exploration and production activities.
